Hydrofracking

Hydraulic fracturing, commonly known as “hydrofracking” or simply “fracking,” is a method used to extract natural gas and oil from underground rock formations. This process involves injecting a high-pressure mixture of water, sand, and chemicals into the rock, typically shale, to create fractures. These fractures release the trapped gas or oil, allowing it to flow more freely to the wellbore for extraction. This is used by groundwater professionals to develop and rehabilitate wells that are not providing enough water.
